The Botanical Orchard Old Fashioned

A sophisticated, "Springtime" take on the Old Fashioned that leans into floral aromatics and barrel-aged woodiness.

Elevated and earthy, The Botanical Orchard 🌸🥃 reimagines the world’s most famous cocktail for a fresh season. Free Spirits The Spirit of Bourbon provides the foundational charred oak and caramel soul you expect, while VAN SHA introduces a mysterious, botanical elegance that transforms the drink into something lighter and more ethereal. Bound together with a rich honey syrup and bright orange bitters, it’s a stirred, spirit-forward masterpiece that feels both grounded and blooming.

To new growth, deep roots, and a cocktail that captures the very essence of the orchard.

🪵 Barrel-Aged Depth – Toasted oak and vanilla warmth from Free Spirits Bourbon.

🌿 Floral Complexity – VAN SHA adds layers of soft aromatics and botanical structure.

🍯 Golden Silk – Honey syrup provides a rounded, floral sweetness that lingers.

🍊 Bright & Herbal – Orange bitters and fresh rosemary create a crisp, fragrant finish.

  1. Combine: In a mixing glass filled with plenty of ice, add 1.5 oz Free Spirits The Spirit of Bourbon, 1.0 oz VAN SHA, 0.25 oz honey syrup, and 2 dashes of orange bitters.
  2. Stir: Stir steadily for about 30 seconds. This is crucial for achieving the perfect dilution and a silky, chilled texture.
  3. Strain: Strain the mixture into a rocks glass over one large, clear ice cube.
  4. Express: Take the lemon twist and squeeze it over the drink to release the oils, then drop it in.
  5. Aromatize: Give the fresh rosemary sprig a quick "slap" between your palms to wake up the aromatics, then place it on top to finish.
